Sprite is a sparkling lemon-lime flavoured soft drink.
The idea for the name of 'Sprite' came from early advertising. During the 1940s an elf with silver hair and a big smile (and most often wearing a bottle cap for a hat!) was used in Coca-Cola advertising.
This character, known affectionately as 'The Little Sprite', urged customers to buy more. In the late 1950s, the company developed a citrus flavoured drink. The short, sharp and memorable sound of 'The Little Sprite' made it an ideal name for the new product.
Sprite Zero hit the shelves in July 2004 in response to the demand for a refreshing drink that tastes great – but with zero sugar.
In Sprite's latest award-winning campaign, our hero, JD Quench, tackles the evil T.H.I.R.S.T. empire, who are hell-bent on making people thirsty! Using Sprite as his weapon, Quench frees the parched captives and refreshes them with Sprite and Sprite Zero.
